Guided Wave Non-contact Ultrasonic for Nde
Non-contact ultrasonic, enables rapid testing of structures using ultrasonic tests that are not possible via conventional contact transducers. This paper reports on laser ultrasonic and air/gas coupled ultrasonic measurements that are performed remotely, do not require direct access to test area, do not need traditional ultrasonic coupling and do not have traditional C-scan fixture requirements...
متن کاملModular Architecture of a Non-Contact Pinch Actuation Micropump
This paper demonstrates a modular architecture of a non-contact actuation micropump setup. Rapid hot embossing prototyping was employed in micropump fabrication by using printed circuit board (PCB) as a mold material in polymer casting. Actuator-membrane gap separation was studied, with experimental investigation of three separation distances: 2.0 mm, 2.5 mm and 3.5 mm. To enhance the micropump...
متن کاملNovel Actuation Methods for High Force Haptics
Most haptic devices are intended primarily, if not exclusively, to exchange information with a human operator, and often replace or augment traditional computer displays with backdrivable, force-producing tactile interfaces. This includes popular commercial devices such as the PHANTOM (Massie & Salisbury, 1994) that are typically limited to at most several Newtons of endpoint force capacity, ju...
متن کاملModeling Collision Sounds: Non-linear Contact Force
A model for physically based synthesis of collision sounds is proposed. Attention is focused on the non-linear contact force, for which both analytical and experimental results are presented. Numerical implementation of the model is discussed, with regard to accuracy and efficiency issues. As an application, a physically based audio effect is presented.
